This is Reading Photographs, a newsletter for those interested in remarkably mundane photographs and why the details, ideas, emotions, memories, connections and beliefs they arouse make them meaningful.
There were no magical holiday moments like this during this Christmas season.
Aside from my exhausting weekend of travel to get our new puppy home, we were busy with youngest’s birthday party, a church Christmas pageant rehearsal and performance, a weekend with my wife and oldest out of town at a musical.
Yet, those feel like superficial barriers, things I could have easily gotten around if I’d just been motivated to put film in a camera and wait for the right light the right expression the right moment.
I wish I knew how to get back to that motivation. Or even whether I should want to.
